Better to be safe than sorry! Hurricane preparation tip: Take pictures of all your home furnishings and belongs. Photograph everything you believe to be of monetary or sentimental value, both inside and outside of your home. Include photos of your windows, doors, and roof. These photos will be invaluable if you have any storm damage and end up in a fight with your insurance company for proceeds and/or if you end up having to defend yourself in front of the IRS for uninsured casualty losses. After Hurricane Hugo, insurance customers who had photographs were able to claim significantly higher losses than those that did not have photographs.
